Are you an experienced electrical trade professional looking for a part-year training role with good day rates and clearly defined days?

Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships is seeking an Electrical Trainer to support Electrical and Instrumentation apprentices embedded with a major oil & gas operator in Karratha.

This is a site-based, practical training role focused on practical site skills, safe work practices and building job-ready apprentices.

The role is intentionally structured at up to 80 days per year, delivered in agreed blocks, making it ideal for those wanting strong day rates without the demands of full-time lecturing or ongoing admin.

About the role

You’ll work directly on site, supporting and developing apprentices in a live operational environment. The focus is on practical competence, safety behaviours and job readiness, working closely with site supervisors, TAFE providers and the Programmed support team.

In this role you will:

• Support and mentor Electrical and Instrumentation apprentices on site
• Deliver and assess training in line with the relevant Training Package
• Conduct workplace observations and structured competency assessments
• Provide clear, practical coaching and constructive feedback
• Maintain accurate and compliant training and assessment records
• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, TAFE partners and Programmed advisors
• Demonstrate and promote strong safety leadership and compliance

About you

You’re approachable, practical and comfortable working in the field. You enjoy developing people, value safety, and communicate clearly with apprentices, supervisors and stakeholders.

You will bring:

• Electrical trade qualification (essential)
• Instrumentation qualification (desirable, not essential)
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent)
• Experience training, mentoring or supporting apprentices
• Lead by example when it comes to safety and site standards
• Clear communication skills and a supportive coaching style
• Ability to work FIFO from Perth or residentially in Karratha (housing not provided)
